WebFeb 15, 2024 · Basically, I saw a '62 Reissues in Sherwood and wanted to copy it, but want a painted headstock. I re-created the Squire logo because most found online weren't very accurate and the curves kinda wonky. Made a nice vintage '70s style headstock logo but, been debating the colours.

WebMay 7, 2024 · Painted headstock on an otherwise all-maple neck just looks kinda weird to me — but I appreciate that’s a very subjective opinion and YMMV...!! There’s something of an association with late-‘60s offsets so I guess it makes sense that colors you might associate with those guitars would seem to work the best. WebFeb 6, 2012 · You don't need the double sided tape. The trick is to take a second identical logo, spray the back with clear lacquer, and just stick it on to the logo on the headstock while the lacquer is wet. Then spray the black on the headstock face. Then knock the second logo off and clean it up by scraping if necessary. fletch WebI'm painting the headstock black, to match the colour of the body. Just to clarify, I don't need to sand anything off the headstock, just apply the paint and gloss on top of it? At the moment, there is a thin layer of gloss on top of the wood. I sort of thought I would need to sand it down to the bare wood surface first for the paint to stick.

WebSep 14, 2024 · Oh well, anyway what you need is a multi step operation starting with paint stripper. There is one called aircraft paint stripper available at your local auto parts store. It will work well, but be damned careful if you don't want to strip the whole instrument.
