I hang all my garage cabinets with a french cleat made from 1×6 pine that I cut into two piece at 45 degrees approx 1/3 to 2/3. The wall part of the cleat is the 2/3 part and gets two #10 screws into each stud for the length of the cleat. The cabinet part gets glue and a #12 screw every 6 inches.
